How about the Amazing, Astonishing, Marvelous (seriously) Regional Conference in Albuquerque on Friday October 4th and Saturday October 5th? This conference is going to be epic.
The programs in this conference are designed to appeal to a large cross section of administrators and functional specialists with a wide range of experience levels. The sessions are intended to be “hands on” with a lot of useful ‘how to” instruction that the attendees can take back to their firms and put into practice right away. The problem is going to be choosing which great session to attend, as we will have three sessions running concurrently. We have a very strong list of speakers including:
Steve Gilliland – the keynote speaker,
- Peter Stark - a very well known consultant who is doing an expanded program on change management,
- Jeff Lanza (of MHC retreat fame) who will concentrate his presentation on workplace violence and how we can practically deal with these issues,
- A session on writing presented by Amy Dvorak - our editor at ALA headquarters,
- A great session on trends in the legal industry including, but not limited to, what the heck is going on with mergers and takeovers, the future of the traditional lawyer/secretary service model presented by Kristin Stark (no relation to Peter) who is a very well known consultant,
- A hands on session on how to develop a strategic plan by well known consultant – Brian Brandt,
- An employment update from an employment lawyer from Albuquerque,
- A session on project management,
- How to deal with an aging workforce and the related competency issues of us old folks,
- The famous Bill and Phil show – 60 tech tips in 60 minutes. They are also appearing in Denver in September,
- A session on understanding financial statements,
- A much need session on ethics – making a difference with integrity presented by lawyer, CPA and business person – David Thomas
- A session on the Healthcare and what these changes mean to us as business managers and to our clients. We are working on a very well known and highly respected speaker for this session,
- The closing general session wrap up will be conducted by Craig Price who will attend the sessions for these two days and will help us all to put the new acquired skills, insights and knowledge into action.
