2013 02 Mile High Madness

Mile High Madness!

As I near the end of my term as Mile High Chapter President, It is with a little sadness and relief that I will soon be passing the gavel.  I look forward to working with the new Board  and President in my roll as Immediate Past President.  Although I will no longer be Chapter President, I will remain an active member of the Mile High Chapter and will continue to serve as an officer this coming year and on committees for years to come.  As with many of our past presidents, you are always welcome to bend my ear and run things by me.  It is my goal to re-engage our past presidents to renew their commitments to the Chapter as well.  Thank you to the current Board of Directors for all of your hard work during this Board Year and for making my year as president a positive and memorable experience.  Thank you to the Mile High Chapter membership for trusting me to be your president…I will always be grateful for the trust you placed in me to preside over your association!

Here’s a recap of the Chapter’s February Events:

2013-14 Business Partner Program Rollout Meeting:

The rollout meeting for the 2013-14 Business Partnering Program was held at the offices of Moye White, LLP on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 7:30 am.  A number of current and prospective business partners were on hand to hear about the new program.  Marya Brancio with Special Counsel and Bill Bradford with Cornerstone Records Management, spoke with the attendees about their Business Partner relations with the Mile High Chapter.  Following their brief comments, Stacie Hedrick, President-Elect for the 2013-14 Board year and incoming Business Partner Committee chair stepped the attendees, in detail, through the program and the various benefits offered at the different levels.  Stacie also announced an new promotion for first-time BPs offering them a $150 discount of the Pikes Peak Level of sponsorship and access to a BP mentor.

If you know of any businesses that might be interested in becoming a business partner with the Mile High Chapter, please send them this link to the program information: http://milehighala.com/downloads/Business_Partner_Committee/business_partner_program_2013_2014.pdf.

By the way, Stacie announced that they theme for the 2013 MHC Vendor EXPO is 1970s Disco!  The expo, to be held in August, carries the tagline  “Stayin ALAve!

February 2013 Webinar:

The February webinar was hosted at the offices of Welborn Sullivan Meck & Tooley, PC on February, 20, 2013.  The session, Law Firm Profitability – There’s No App for That, was presented by Karen Steinberger, CLM and Jim Allen, CLM.  The presenters discussed a wide range of ideas to help administrators improve their law firms’ profitability.

February 2013 Educational Luncheon:

The February educational luncheon was held on February 21, 2013 at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown Denver.  The luncheon topic was Understanding Financial Statements.  Presented by Dan Chenoweth, the session helped unlock some of the mystery behind financial statements as well as giving attendees some areas of focus including Key Performance Indicators.

Something New:

As I mentioned last month, the MHC Education Committee has been working on something new to deliver our educational luncheons to those of you Boulder and the Denver Tech Center.  We have partnered with Agren Blando to webcast our luncheons to a specified location in Boulder and another location in DTC.  While you will still need to go to a central location, those of you in those areas will no longer have to travel to Denver for the monthly luncheons. (You’re always welcome to join us Downtown!).  We are currently planning to roll this program out during our April 25, 2013 luncheon.  Please note that the April luncheon will be held the 4th Thursday of the month and not the usual 3rd Thursday of the month because of a scheduling conflict with the 2013 ALA Annual Conference & Exposition.

***The March luncheon will NOT be provided via webcast and will continue to take place at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown.***

Stay tuned for details on the rollout of the new educational luncheon options, and PLEASE, be patient with us as we try to work out the kinks of this new delivery method.  A special thanks to the Education Committee on attempting this new and exciting plan.
