President's Message

As we settle into fall, I’ve been reflecting on what makes the Mile High Chapter such a valuable community. At a time when our profession continues to evolve, the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and learn from one another has never been more important.

Our recent Fall Retreat in Snowmass was a perfect reminder of just that. It was wonderful to see so many of our members come together for meaningful professional development, thoughtful conversations, and the opportunity to reconnect outside of our day-to-day responsibilities. Events like these reinforce the value of having a network of professionals who understand the unique challenges and opportunities we face in legal administration.

I want to extend a sincere thank you to our Professional Development and Business Partner committees for the time, creativity, and hard work that went into making the retreat such a success. I'd also like to recognize our incredible business partners, whose continued support and engagement make experiences like this possible. These relationships are an essential part of our chapter, and we are grateful for the expertise resources and perspectives they bring to our community

As I shared in my first message, the legal industry is changing rapidly, and artificial intelligence continues to be one of the most significant drivers of that change. As administrators, we have an important role in helping our firms navigate these developments thoughtfully and responsibly. Our AI Subgroup provides an opportunity for members to exchange ideas and explore how AI is being used across our firms. Our next virtual meeting is scheduled for October 29th at 10:00 am. If you’re interested in joining the conversation, please reach out to Chris Mendenhall ([email protected]) for the October meeting link.

With that in mind, I'm excited to share that our annual Attorney Appreciation Breakfast scheduled for February 25th will feature a presentation on AI and Ethics led by the Honorable Elizabeth Weishaupl. This is a timely and important conversation for both legal administrators and the attorneys we support and we're looking forward to bringing those perspectives together

As a reminder each member is invited to bring up to two attorneys to this event and participating attorneys will have the opportunity to earn CLE credit. We hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to engage your firm's attorneys in the chapter and introduce them to the value of our professional community. More details will be shared as we get closer to the event

Another exciting development this year is our continued collaboration with the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA). This partnership creates additional opportunities for our members to access education resources and connections at a time when technology is reshaping nearly every aspect of legal operations.

If your firm is an ILTA member, you are eligible to create your own individual ILTA account using your firm's domain. ILTA offers a wealth of educational resources including complementary programming focused on AI and its evolving role in the legal industry. I encourage you to explore these resources and take advantage of the opportunities available through this collaboration.

As we look toward the remainder of the chapter year, my priorities remain the same: delivering meaningful value to our members, strengthening our business partner relationships, and creating opportunities for our professional community to grow together.

Whether it's attending an educational program, connecting with a fellow administrator, sharing an idea, or getting involved in a committee, your participation is what makes this chapter successful.

Thank you for being a part of this community and for continuing to invest your time and energy in one another. I'm excited about what's ahead and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.

Nick Dale, 2026-2027 President of the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators

Retreat

The Mile High Chapter Annual Retreat in Snowmass was a huge success! Gail and Bruce Montgomery with ExperienceYes returned this year and delivered another impactful and entertaining series of presentations, this time on “Bouncing Back”. They covered strategies for not just weathering setbacks but landing on your feet and letting that momentum carry your whole team to success.

Our treasured business partners brought so much expertise, professionalism, and support to this event. We are so grateful for the special dinners for all attending members, the awesome giveaways, and for just knowing who’s got our backs when our offices need any kind of supplies or services. Special thanks to our primary retreat sponsors Source Office & Technology, ēlevātus, Adams & Martin, and Technology Architects.

We were also delighted to welcome Elyssa Goldstein, President of the ALA Board of Directors, who shared news and info about the happenings at the international level, and spent quality time getting to know our chapter members.

Many thanks to our Professional Development and Business Partner Committees for all their hard work in making this retreat memorable!

Attendees will gain insight into emerging trends, common areas of exposure, and practical steps to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.

Business Partner Spotlight of the Month

For the past 3 decades, Source has been more than a valued vendor to the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. They have been a trusted business partner, consistently demonstrating their commitment to the legal community through their longstanding support at the organization's highest sponsorship level. What began in 1990 as a family-owned business founded in Denver, specializing in HP LaserJet toner and printer repair, has evolved into one of the region's premier providers of office products, commercial furniture and design, managed print services, and coffee/ breakroom services.

Despite its significant growth, Source has remained true to its core values as a privately held, family-owned company that prioritizes exceptional customer service, innovation, and long-term relationships.

The Mile High ALA is proud to recognize Source for its unwavering partnership and decades of generous support. Their investment in the chapter has helped strengthen professional development opportunities, educational programming, and networking events for legal management professionals throughout Colorado. We are grateful for their continued dedication and look forward to many more years of collaboration and shared success.
