September Mile High Pulse Print

President's Message

Summer is winding down and fall is almost here! The Mile High Chapter is excited that we finally got to see each other in person. It's been a long 18 months of Zoom educational luncheons and networking events and it was amazing to finally get to connect with our peers and network again.  We hope that everyone joins us in the upcoming months for more in-person luncheons and networking events.

Member Benefits

Mile High Chapter:

Law Firm Management Luncheon:  As a “thank you” to the attorneys at our law firms and legal departments who support our ALA membership, the chapter holds an annual educational luncheon where CLE credit is applied for and paying MHC members may bring an attorney from their office free of charge.  This year's law firm management luncheon will be held on October 19, 2021, at the Curtis Hotel.  Charles F. Luce, Jr. will present on Ethics Lessons from the Cockpit.

Headquarters:

Did you know that ALA has an Online Community? As part of your membership, you have access to several different communities and discussion groups.  Small Firm looking for ideas from other Small Firms, there's a community for that!  Looking to see what other firms are doing for DEIA initiates, there is a community for that!

To subscribe to the online community go to https://community.alanet.org/p/co/in/.  On the left-hand side of your screen, you should see a little heart, click on that and subscribe!

Join a Team!

Communications:

The success of the Chapter depends on our ability to provide and maintain a forum for Chapter members to discuss issues, exchange ideas, and obtain additional information from the chapter and other legal resources.  This Committee delivers such services by maintaining the Chapter’s listserv and website. The committee also is responsible for arranging for publicity and advertising for certain events in conjunction with other committees’ needs.

Joining a committee is the best way to network with Mile High peers – some of the best connections I have made has been serving on committees.  I see the deep and long-standing connections with other legal management professionals as the best ALA membership benefit of all.  Missy Hirst, Co-Chair of Membership Team.

The Business Partner Committee invites all members and our Pikes Peak and Longs Peak Business Partners to join us for this event.  No great sports abilities required, just good old-fashioned fun!  In addition to players, we'll need coaches, umpires, scorekeepers, and cheerleaders!  Hope to see you there!

Law Firm Management Luncheon:

Save the date for the Mile High Chapter of ALA's Law Firm Management Luncheon on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.  Charles F. Luce, Jr. will present on Ethics Lessons from the Cockpit.  More information to come!

Networking

Mile High Chapter of ALA held its first networking event in over 18 months!  It was an amazing event. So many familiar faces and some new ones too! It was great to see everyone's smiles again.

Congratulations to Janet Valdez, Sarah Stromberg, and Greg Stevens for winning scholarships to the MHC Annual Conference and Expo!

The Mile High Chapter also took a moment to transfer the Elevate Award from our Past-President Terri Moore-Natal to the Past Chair of the Strategic Relations Committee, Missy Hirst. The Elevate ALA Award recognizes chapters whose efforts in professional development, networking, and visibility demonstrate advancement in the areas of educational content, member-to-member and member-to-business-partner relationships, and ALA’s prominence in the legal community.
