Please join the Mile High Chapter Education Committee at our monthly luncheon on April 16, 2020 as Matthew Eickman, J.D., AIF will present on "Navigating Retirement Plan Issues During the COVID-19 Pandemic."  Retirement plan sponsors are currently facing a host of issues unrelated to their retirement plans as a result of shelter in place orders, social distancing, remote working, and an uncertain economy. Amidst all of those issues, the retirement plan life cycle must go on. This presentation will explore the legislative, investment, participant behavior, and employee wellness issues that fiduciaries must continue to address.

Session Objectives:  After completing this session, participants should be able to: (1) Understand fiduciary risks; (2) Identify emerging solutions for mitigating risk; and (3) Improve strategies for communicating with employees.

Matthew Eickman, J.D., AIF® is the National Retirement Practice Leader for Qualified Plan Advisors® (QPA) and Managing Director, Omaha Market. He is also a member of the firm's Investment Advisory Committee, holds his FIRA series 7 and 66 registrations, and is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®).  Matthew has more than 16 years of private legal practice focusing exclusively on employee benefits and has represented clients in front of the DOL, IRS and PBGC. He is an active member of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association Tax Section and currently serves as co-chair of the Defined Contribution Plans Subcommittee. He is a frequent speaker on regulatory developments, fiduciary responsibilities, and retirement readiness.
Matthew works with QPA investment advisors across the country to ensure that they are providing not only high-level fiduciary investment consulting services, but also innovative, practical solutions that drive real results for participants. In working directly with plan trustees and committees, Matthew's greatest joy is the ability to conduct trustee meetings that focus on participants, including summaries of QPA's financial wellness education efforts. Further, his practical approach to fiduciary responsibilities is on display through his monthly QPA Advocate Newsletter articles, frequent educational webinars, and the annual Qualified Plan Fiduciary Summit.  Matthew graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.S.B.A., highest distinction) and Baylor Law School (J.D., magna cum laude), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Baylor Law Review and competed on the National Moot Court and Mock Trial teams.
