Mile High Moves

Mission: Our mission for the 2020/2021 year is to continue to focus on the future of our organization.  We will continue to leverage partnerships in our community to increase the visibility of the Mile High Chapter ALA.  In addition, we will increase membership engagement by continuing to provide the necessary tools to meet the educational, networking and professional development needs of our Members which allows them to be at their best as strategic partners in their firms’ success.

I.C.Y.M.I  (in case you missed it) : ALA had its annual meeting virtually on May 6, 2020 in which the gavel was passed from James Cornell, III to Debra L. Elsbury, CLM, making her the Association President for 2020-2021. Here are a few updates from the meeting:

  • Although the 2020 Annual Conference was cancelled, there are plans to hold a virtual meeting on June 25, 2020. Final details are being worked out.
  • Planning is full steam ahead for the 2021 Annual Conference, which will celebrate ALA’s 50th Anniversary at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois.
  • ALA is temporarily removing the 12-credit cap on self-study and passive learning experience CLM credits. This means that anyone recertifying in June or November 2020, and anyone applying for the November 2020 exam, can earn all needed credits via self-study or passive learning experiences. • ALA’s Executive Director Search Committee hopes to finalize candidates by mid- August this year and have the new Executive Director in place by the end of 2020.
